readoutward.com uses only our own cookies. It uses no third-party advertising or tracking cookies and loads no third-party analytics scripts.

ro_session is an HttpOnly cookie that page scripts cannot read. ro_observer and ro_learning_observer are set only when your browser does not send Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC).
Browser storage#
The web app also stores in your browser:
- learning records made while signed out, appearance and listening-region settings, an invite code and recently played items (localStorage and IndexedDB), so you can pick up where you left off after a reload;
- random visitor and session identifiers (localStorage) for the visit statistics above, which are not created when DNT or GPC is on;
- where to return after sign-in or payment (sessionStorage), cleared when you close the tab.
Third-party pages#
- When you pay, you go to Stripe’s checkout page, where Stripe sets necessary cookies under its own cookie policy.
- YouTube or Spotify episodes you import play in their embedded players, which may set their own cookies.
- Our website is hosted on Cloudflare, which may set necessary security cookies to defend against attacks.
Managing cookies#
You can view and delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Deleting ro_session signs you out; clearing browser storage removes learning records kept in the browser while signed out (records synced to your account are not affected). Turn on DNT or GPC to stop visit statistics. See the Privacy Policy for more, and contact support@readoutward.com with any question.
