Subscription and Auto-Renewal Terms
These Subscription Terms are part of the Terms of Service. They cover Read OutWard memberships, auto-renewal, free trials, AI credits, paid interactive books and redemption codes. Please read the parts about auto-renewal, cancellation and refunds carefully. The price shown at purchase applies.
Scope#
These terms apply to paid services you buy in the Read OutWard iPhone / iPad app (through the Apple App Store) and on readoutward.com (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay and WeChat Pay, processed by Stripe). The services are provided by Inchfield Technologies Limited. A membership bought on the web or on iPhone works on both with the same account.

- The App Store shows prices in your local currency; the App Store purchase sheet prevails. On the web, applicable taxes are shown at Stripe checkout.
- Existing web subscribers keep renewing at the currency and amount they signed up for, until they cancel.
- Membership includes full reading content, 300 AI credits a month and member prices on interactive books, as described on the membership page.
Auto-renewal#
App Store purchases
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of your current plan (see price changes below).
- You can manage or turn off auto-renewal in your Apple Account subscription settings at any time after purchase. After you turn it off, your membership stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Card purchases on the web (Stripe)
- You are charged when you subscribe (or when a free trial ends, if checkout offered one), and then automatically at the start of each period using your saved payment method.
- You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. You keep access until then and will not be charged again.
Alipay / WeChat Pay passes
A one-time payment for one calendar month or one calendar year. Nothing is charged automatically when it ends. To continue, buy another pass; the new period starts when the current one ends.
Free trial#
- First-time members get a 7-day free trial of the annual plan, once per account (and once per Apple Account).
- When the trial ends, it converts automatically to a paid annual membership and US$59.99 (or the local-currency equivalent) is charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you have notifications enabled on iPhone, we remind you about 2 days before the trial ends.
- During the trial you get 50 AI credits a month; as a paying member you get 300.
- If web checkout offers a trial, the same rules apply as shown at checkout.
How to cancel#
On iPhone / iPad (App Store subscriptions):
- Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions; or open the App Store, tap your profile picture, then Subscriptions.
- Choose Read OutWard and tap Cancel Subscription.
You can also tap Manage subscription on the membership page in the app to open Apple’s subscription settings directly.
On the web (card subscriptions): sign in at readoutward.com, go to My › Membership, open the Stripe page and cancel. In the iPhone app, Settings › Account & Sync › Manage auto-renewal and Manage web subscription on the membership page open the same page.
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it as above before you delete your account.
Refunds#
- App Store purchases: Apple takes payment for all App Store purchases (memberships, AI credit packs and interactive books) and handles refunds under its own policies; we cannot refund them directly. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Web purchases (card, Alipay, WeChat Pay): within 7 days of your first successful Read OutWard payment, you can request a full refund by emailing support@readoutward.com. This first-payment rule applies across cards and wallets; changing payment methods or buying again does not restart it. After 7 days, periods or passes already started are not refunded pro rata, unless the law requires otherwise.
- After a refund, the related membership ends; refunded AI credit packs are deducted from your balance (which can go negative; you cannot spend credits until it is back above zero).
- Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights.
Price changes#
We may change prices. For App Store subscriptions, Apple notifies you of price increases under its rules and asks for your consent where required. For web subscriptions, we will email you or notify you on the website at least 30 days before the first renewal at the new price, and you can cancel before then. Price changes never affect the period you have already paid for.
AI credits and credit packs#
- AI credits are used only to generate narration for you, for example of content you imported or in a voice we have not pre-generated. Pre-generated narration, cache hits and failed generations cost nothing.
- Monthly grants: free accounts 20, trial 50, members 300. Granted credits reset each cycle and do not roll over; unused granted credits expire. When a membership ends or is refunded, remaining member-granted credits are removed.
- Credit packs: 100 credits US$1.99, 300 credits US$4.99, 650 credits US$9.99 (the App Store shows local-currency prices). Packs are one-time purchases, do not renew and never expire.
- Granted credits are spent before purchased credits. To prevent abuse, daily spending is capped (currently 500 credits).
- AI credits are not money: they cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to another account.
Paid interactive books#
- An interactive book costs US$3.99; members pay a member price of US$1.99 for the same book (the App Store shows local-currency prices). Books are currently sold through the App Store.
- A book is a one-time purchase that stays with your account. After changing devices or reinstalling, use Restore Purchases on the membership page.
- Books you bought stay yours when a membership ends.
Family Sharing#
- Interactive books bought through the App Store support Family Sharing, so members of your Family Sharing group can use them at no extra cost.
- Memberships and AI credit packs do not support Family Sharing.
Redemption codes and referral rewards#
- Apple offer codes: Redeem code on the membership page can open Apple’s redemption sheet for offer codes we issue through the App Store; Apple’s rules apply.
- Beta redemption codes: currently available only in the beta (TestFlight) app, to give testers a period of membership, sometimes with a few AI credits. The App Store release does not offer this kind of redemption yet.
- Each code can be used once, only by the account that redeems it, and cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash. Redeemed membership time starts after your current membership ends.
- Membership days earned by inviting friends likewise cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash. We may withdraw benefits from codes and referral rewards obtained improperly, revoked, or tied to a refunded payment.
